Surrounded by Cognac vineyards this charming spot in the French countryside is only thirty minutes away from the sea. The Water Mill is set in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere within magnificent grounds, sheltered by ash-trees and poplars where you can enjoy the soothing sounds of the river "Seugne".
This Water Mill dates back to the 16th century.
The river "Seugne" which flows through a canal along the mill walls, the island and the meadows used to provide up to the 19th century the natural resources needed to produce flour and nut oil.
The Mill is located in the middle of the meadow and is surrounded by the "Trèfle" and the "Maine" that gather to form the river "Seugne". "La Seugne" originates from a local name given to the various river sections it created on its river bed. Its crystal-clear waters, which are home to many fishes, flow for about 35 miles through the beautiful district of "Haute Saintonge".
